I'm not sure if this is the right place

Hiya everyone,

I'm not sure if I'm writing this post in the right place or not, but I have a HP laptop which is currently running on windows 10, but I read on the website for windows that they are closing windows 10 near the end of the year, but I can't upgrade my laptop to windows 11 as it's not compatible with my laptop and I don't want to part with my laptop either as my mum bought it for me from my youngest sister and also because I've got loads of things on it that I don't want to lose.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a new laptop from as myself and my fiancé are on UC and my fiancé also works part-time as a cleaner at a local branch of Sainsbury's.

I was also wondering if there's a for me not lose my photos and other things that I have on my current laptop?

    Hi Brian

    The discontinuation of operating systems only really complicates Microsoft(etc)'s ability to sell us security software. That software will be outdated within minutes, if not before it's release.

    One of my computers could readily handle the upgrade from 10 but there's no need to. It won't change anything useful. I suggest they're just trying to sell you software. As soon as it's made, security software will always be vulnerable. I encourage you just to be reasonably careful. Most of us are.

    Hard drives are very cheap, you could save any special data on them. You could also do that online but you'll likely pay a subscription fee.

    Hi @BrianMcFaddenfan24 sorry to hear your laptop isn't compatible with this windows 11 update. You could take a look here at Computer and Assistive Technology Grants where there are a few different options for technology support grants. A hard drive is a great way to back-up your information/transfer this from one device to another.
