I rang the UC and work capability assessment department to find out what I'm entitled to but they are not giving me a straight answer.

Hi @marc69 and welcome to the community. You could look at Turn2us Benefits Calculator, or even reach out to them or Citizens Advice who have benefits advisors that might be able to talk you through what you're eligible based on your personal circumstances. š

Hi @marc69 hopefully you'll hear back from Turn2Us and Citizens Advice soon with an appointment. They are incredibly busy but really helpful so hopefully it'll be worth it once they've got you booked in š

Hi @marc69 - & welcome to the community.
Please check your letter as there are 2 different terms which sound confusingly similar. One is 'Limited Capability for Work (LCW),' & the other is 'Limited Capability for Work & work related Activity (LCWRA).'
If it's LCW, then no additional money is paid. If it's LCWRA. then on top of your standard allowance this LCWRA element is an additional £423.27 a month. There needs to be 3 full assessment periods (these are a month long) before this is payable; i.e. no extra amount is paid in those 3 months. Then, as it's paid in one month in arrears, it would be due from just after this 4th month.
This all presuming you provided continuous fit notes until you got the decision on your Work Capability Assessment (& you don't live with a partner who already claims LCWRA). Depending on when you provided your first fit note, backpay may not be due.
Hoping the above helps.

Yes thank you Chiarieds ..could I appeal this decision to gain lcwra as I have torn my alignments in my right thumb and finding general normal task really hard ..I can't even struggle to cut up to eat food using literally my left hand to do everything..

Yes, you can @marc69 - just ask for the decision to be looked at again (& why you think you may be eligible for LCWRA). This is called a Mandatory Reconsideration, where another decision maker should look at your claim again.
However, depending on whether the damage to your thumb is temporary/ permanent, they might disagree. Have a look at the other LCWRA descriptors to see if anything else might apply:
