HS2 - What to do about ?

HS2 is going to cost a ridiculous £100 billion by the time it is up and running !

What should be done about it ?

Would the money have been better spent on other things - what ?

Can the country afford this for a short length (not even into central London) of higher speed rail line to Birmingham ?

    I thought it was already cancelled it? or did I misunderstand something when was in news ages ago?
