Sudden Hearing Loss, Tinnitus Worse
Hi everyone. I’m new here. I’m looking for a bit of reassurance if possible. Flew back from holiday at the weekend with a cold which meant that my ears didn’t pop and were very sore and deaf after landing. I saw an audiologist yesterday who has diagnosed retracted ear drums in both ears with the right being worse and he said there is a ball of yellow pus behind the eardrum. I am now on amoxicillin. He said I may not get my hearing back for up to six weeks! I am a tinnitus sufferer and it’s unbearably loud! He also looked at my hearing test graph ( done recently at a well known chemist chain) and said my right ear showed a significant hearing loss and that I should have been referred to ENT. I’m getting really panicked that my hearing may never return after this infection ( I suffer from anxiety) he has told me to inhale steam with olbas oils. Can anyone give me any more advice and reassurance? Thank you.
