Any other colouring folk on here? Always been a fan of drawing etc, but recently bought my first colouring book Cozy Cuties by Coco Wyo, then ordered Cozy Europe by Coco Wyo. Decided I wanted a pattern practice book too 😆, so waiting for that to arrive.

I use DecoTime alcohol markers, I've got a Copic colourless blender and some white Gelly Roll pens. Would love some Ohuhu pens, but soooo expensive!

I use a couple of sheets of paper behind the page I'm colouring so that they don't bleed onto the other pages. Alcohol markers of any brand do bleed, so deffo recommend putting sheets behind.

I know you can get a protective sheet that protects, but honestly a few pages of paper / a piece of card work just as well, I would say. Also perfect for using for colour swatching too 😃

What gel pens do you use? Would love to get some gel pens. Don't know about you, but I'm a 90s baby, so the smelly versions were all the rage when I was at school 😆 think I had one of every colour 😂

Ohh thank you. I'll see if I can get some.

I'd say you definitely need at least a couple of sheets of paper, if not 3 / 4. But I would think one piece of card would be fine.

    Oh they're super cute!

I'm so glad you're able to use compression gloves. I'd imagine they aren't a solution, but it's great that they help with pain and cramps

Trying to experiment with different challenges and patterns. Managed to do the water drop challenge last night.

Also treat myself to some new alcohol markers 🤩

Wow @CountryMimi, these are great. I love all the variation in colours and textures that you've added in, it really gives it some life.

I've got a colouring book of scenes from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I've not got a good enough selection of pens yet and I haven't quite got the techniques down. Still fun though!

I'll have to have a look at your suggestions for pens!

Hi @Rosie_Scope that's ace! There are so many variations of colouring books out there.

Thank you, that's so kind of you to say. Honestly, there are some insanely talented colouring artists out there and they have some great tips and tricks.

That's the thing with colouring. I feel as though it's not necessary to have every single variation of pen / pencil and there are definitely ways and means of achieving a similar look with all types of media, but they can be picked up quite reasonably priced too.

I got my DecoTime markers from B&M. Pack of 60 for £20 personally think that's an absolute bargain, particularly considering that you get a storage tray with them too. Had them a couple of years, but only got a lot more use out of them recently and noticing that some of the pens are beginning to dry up. I've definitely been storing them incorrectly though, apparently they should be stored vertical.

Managed to grab some small acrylic paint pens from Amazon for £6.99 and super impressed with them https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B08SGFYQKZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

Currently attempting an embroidery effect, but on my practice sheets I'm having mixed results 🫣🤣🤣🤣

Ooh those pens from Amazon look cool @CountryMimi, I'll definitely have a look!

I got it wrong, my book is a general Roald Dahl book so it has things from all sorts of Roald Dahl stories. I spent my lunch time staring at this page trying to work out what the things in the middle were 😂

Picture shows a half finished colouring book page of tropical fruits and flowers, with a circle in the middle to show a mystery fruit or flower that hasn't been coloured yet

Having asked the team, I think we've settled on them being some kind of Chinese Lantern flower. Who knows!

But that's my work in progress anyway! I often colour in the evenings to wind down, so I'm not the best at getting it in the lines in low light. But I have a good time 😁

Roald Dahl is even better! That colouring book looks amazing!

I had to look up what Chinese Lantern Flowers were 😅 they could be. My first thought was either that they could be mini pumpkins or oranges 🤔 just with there being other fruits, but you could well be right! 😂 Do find it funny when you're sat there trying to work out what something is. One of my colouring books has a lemonade stand, with a drinks dispenser, but what on earth is supposed to be in the dispenser, I haven't a clue 😂😂😂

It looks absolute amazing! I love the shading and highlights you've added. We all have imperfections, I personally blame the pens bleeding 🤪
