DLA to PIP

in PIP, DLA, ADP and AA

My 27 year old son is currently still receiving DLA. If the bill goes through tomorrow I will be applying for PIP for him. However I cannot find any information online on how to go about this, it just says when you get a letter. If that letter doesn't come before November 2026 he will be assessed under the new rules and being Autistic with learning difficulties I cannot guarantee he will get 4 points.
So, anyone know how I go about it?

    That decision will be down to you to make, a PIP award is never guaranteed regardless of the condition and future planned law changes. You can choose to remain on DLA and await natural PIP migration (if that ever does happen) or risk an already paid award, adult DLA claims nowadays are rare. You really are best to seek expert advice before any award is put in to jeopardy.

    Dont stress too much about the 4 points at the moment, only assessments that "start" after late 2026 will be affected. Even without the concession the award also would have been honoured for the time period of the award.

    I got no advice on whether you should give up the DLA and make the PIP claim instead of waiting for them to migrate you.

    Thank you both.

    My son already gets UC with LCWRA. I've also got another son who went from DLA to PIP and I also get PIP, so I am fairly confident he would still be awarded, but I am not sure how to start the process of applying without receiving a letter.
