What's the best film you've seen lately?

Doesn't have to be a new release, just anything you happened to watch lately that you thought was good!
I watched 28 Years Later last night and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I'm not a huge fan of gore, but my partner liked the first film (28 Days Later), so we thought we'd give it a go!
But one film a friend recommended that I did really like was called Marcel the Shell With Shoes On. It's about Marcel, a shell… with shoes on 😁
It's a stop-motion mock-documentary about a little shell that lives in an Air B&B with his aging grandma, and the search for his lost family after they got separated. Sad at points, but very sweet. It sounds like a kids film but it's definitely got some more grown-up themes to it. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes something a bit quirky and different!
Anyone seen anything good lately that you'd recommend?

Blink Twice is a good film i it watched recently as I like phsycological thirillers anyways! Very good and there's a big twist towards the end, after realising how the movie played out I watched it again and I understood it then. I thought this was a good film great songs, very well made and I think they picked the right actors/actresses for the given roles of the film, some faces that you may recicogise from older films. I would recommend this it's also free to watch if your a prime Amazon you can watch for free. I loved the music too.

Ooh interesting @Amberpearl, I've not seen that one before, but it sounds like a good one!
And that sounds good too @tealhoneydew16, I love a psychological thriller too, so that'll be on the list to watch over the next few days ☺️

I recently rewatched Coyote Ugly for the first time in years and I had forgot what a great film it was! Also a great soundtrack!😄

I watched "We Live in Time" yesterday on Netflix with Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield. Was really touching, a few giggles and a few tears.

Watched "Collateral Beauty" with Will Smith again last night

I watched The Ballad of Wallace Island last weekend and loved it.
ImdB score; 74
Rotten Tomatoes; 97%
It has a fairly stark backdrop, but the characters are really warm and lovely. A long hug on a cold night. Tim Key is a particularly hilarious character. Beautifully done.

It has to be
THE PIANO
this week on tv. I loved it as much as I did at the cinema! The piano score is unforgettable.
I rarely watch films on my small tv (or much of anything). But I was mesmerised all over again and had certainly forgotten the beginning of the film. On BBC so no interruptions for two delicious hours!
The main character is nonspeaking.
The piano is her language, her passion, her identity.
Holly Hunter ❤️ Harvey Keitel 😎

I don't know how to lose the shading when I copy and paste 🤨 but THE PIANO is high in my favourite ever films.

I watched it last night and I loved it! It felt like an 80s Superman film, but modernised a bit. A film of a comic, rather than a film based on a comic.
The casting was really good and I think there was just enough James Gunn in there for it to be light hearted, without going into the realms of GotG. 😊

The Piano is always going to be a classic. 😁

Aww that's a shame @Wheeled_Weapon it's a really good looking film, well worth checking out when it comes to streaming in a few weeks. But I get it, not everyone's going to like the film and there's nowt wrong with that. 😊
I need to see 28 years later of course. I'm not expecting amazing things from it, but it has to be done!0 -
Agreed, that bit was a tad silly. But I find it's always to have that suspension of disbelief with any sci fi style movie. 😆

best film I’ve seen recently is Conclave. I found it really interesting, especially as I was watching it during a real Papal election.

I still haven't seen that yet @JudithL but I've heard really good things. Added to my list!
I saw that Oppenheimer is now on Netflix, so I might try watching that soon too. When the whole Barbie versus Oppenheimer thing happened I gravitated towards Barbie then never made it to Oppenheimer at the cinema. I'm a bit put off by how long it is but at least if you're at home you can split it up a bit with snacks and breaks 😁
