Hi All

I was currently on standard rates of PIP but my health deteriorated and upon medical advice, I reported this change to PIP.

I wasn’t aware this triggers basically a new claim but I was prepared to undertake such a gruelling process in order for me to be completely transparent with PIP.

This was early February - the forms were filled out for me, thanks to help from a trusted person.

I had the assessment 1 July 2025.

I felt rushed and the assessor was very snippy and short with me and wouldn’t let my trusted person answer for me until I attempted to answer first.

I say all this to say, she specifically said she would send the report of that day.

I rang DWP up yesterday and they said it hasn’t been received and they gave me the telephone details to follow back up with Capita.

My trusted person called with me and after explaining the situation the lady then went to see and she said, sorry, I have to place you on hold. After ten minutes she came back and said it’s under audit and to wait another four weeks before calling again for an update. Before my trusted person could respond, she hastily said goodbye and put the phone down.

I’m now completely in turmoil and panicking and think this is completely unreasonable and adding more undue stress and pressure I could do without.

Can anyone advise if the 4 week period is correct? Am I just at their peril or is there anyway I can expedite this?

Also, what is an audit, is this some accountancy thing?

Apologises for the ignorance.

Hi @DepressedAnxious please try not to worry. I know that's easier said than done sometimes but the audits are random and are sent to check the assessors have done their job correctly. However, it does delay the process unfortunately. It might be longer than 4 weeks with the auditor, but fingers crossed it doesn't take too long.

    thank you, Holly.

I guess I am now resolved to waiting an additional 4 weeks before DWP receive my report and then another 8 weeks for a decision to be reached.

I’ll try to remember to follow up if I get nothing from DWP stating they have my report by next month.
