ESA to UC query
Hi.
I wonder whether anyone from Scope's online community can assist me with a query I have regarding ESA to UC migration.
I live with my mum; a 75-year-old pensioner who receives pension credit and housing benefit.
My mum's housing benefit claim is separate to my ESA claim, but I am listed as a non-dependant.
As I will be migrating from ESA to UC via a single claim for myself, will any of this affect my mum's housing benefit?
Kind regards,
Shaun

Does your Mum receive any other benefits such as Attendance Allowance or Daily Living PIP?

Hi, Kimi87.
Thank you for responding.
No, my mum isn't in receipt of any other benefits.

I'm not sure on the answer to this one.
You could try putting your household details into a benefits calculator, once with ESA as your income, then once with UC, seeing if there is any difference to your Mum's Housing Benefit.

Yes, I am still in receipt of PIP, which includes the Daily Living element.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, and give clarity, to my query.

If your Mum received PIP DL or AA no non dependant deductions would be made from her hb.
The non dependant being in receipt of PIP DL doesn't stop deductions being made.
I thought it did but my research suggests otherwise, hence my suggestion of trying a benefits calculator to see if there is any difference between ESA & UC.

Hi, Kimi87.
Thank you once again for your efforts regarding my query.
Yes, I will have a go at putting my household details into a benefits calculator.
All the best.
