PIP reports…LIES

hi All

I received a copy of my PIP report and the lies are astounding.

From them not even including the correct medication I am on to out and out lies saying no OCD diagnosis despite diagnosis letter about ritualistic OCD and ongoing CBT.

They’ve lied saying I have no Mental Health team involved in my care despite me supplying her details and also details of the crisis team being involved.

My consultant wrote a report detailing my mobility issues and I’m on a combination of painkillers, tramadol and crutches used daily, I was reported to be managing my condition well.

Even though they have awarded me PIP for three years, I note the report was updated two weeks later to include lies that I have Internet banking and track all my income and expenses.

This is a lie, I have never had Internet banking since my account was drained over 10 years ago and I moved banks and my sister manages all my finances and there’s even a letter of authority in place.

Can anyone explain if I were to appeal does this mean my PIP placed on standard rates would be stopped until an appeal is heard?

Do I go straight to mandatory reconsideration is there anything in between?

Any advice appreciated because I’m so distraught at the lies. If they came to this conclusion on the truth I would not be as upset but they have lied.

They also said I had communicated well, despite the assessor telling my trusted person not to answer for me and kept badgering for me to answer despite my memory being poor.

They also had access to an occupational report that dismissed me on medical grounds and said I voluntarily left despite a clear black and white legal agreement stating I was assessed and it was deemed I was unable to return to work.

I haven’t stopped crying since getting the report.

Hi @DepressedAnxious that's terrible. I'm completely surprised by the sheer number of discrepancies you've mentioned.

So, the mandatory reconsideration is the next step and there is a deadline of a month from award for this to be submitted so even if there were another stage, I'd probably still recommend getting that paperwork complete and submitted as time soon flies by. PIP shouldn't stop whilst you go through the process of a mandatory reconsideration.

Please look after yourself. I can't imagine how upsetting this has been for you so please reach out if you need to. We're here for you.

    thank you @Holly_Scope

my sister is going through the report and she’s noted that they mention due to ritualistic behaviour which can take me anywhere between 30-45minutes in order to just leave but still I scored zero points.

It’s getting worse the more she tells me.

She will call tomorrow first thing at 9am.

The official award letter has not arrived but she’s drafted notes and cross referencing with the original report supplied.

I can imagine! I'm really pleased you've got your sister there. Sounds like she's a great support, and very well organised. I think they'll regret this 😅

It's possible that when DWP look at the report and your evidence they may see the discrepancies. The report from my last review was really bad, claiming I had said things I hadn't and that I was alone - I wasn't. However when DWP looked at the report and the evidence I had provided as well as the feedback from my GP, they kept my award as enhanced on both. Maybe they will do similar with yours.

I hope so, it’s truly astonishing that they can not only twist the context of information but it appears they now entirely fabricate information.

What is galling is that these are medical professionals. I’m sure the BMA would be horrified.

I feel sorry for those that are outright denied PIP despite having very real and rather complex medical conditions.

sorry to bump this but there are two different health professionals that have signed my report.
my sister has flagged that initial assessment was carried out by a nurse and a second by a physiotherapist.

I only spoke to the former, it’s also interesting that my report was flagged for an audit and my sister has flagged so many inconsistencies and lies. Some of which were never asked or my replies were not is written.

My sister has just alerted me to doesn’t drive which is true but wants to take lessons. This was never said. I don’t even have a provisional license since my original one expired after I first had one in my late teens. I’m now in my 40s.

The more my sister is telling me, the more I am spiralling.

Is it normal to have been assessed by someone else after having a call with the nurse.

How can that person right the report.

Audit is a normal internal process within the health assessment agency.

This is a form of quality control checking.

The second person likely carried out a paper based assessment then wrote the report.

Paper based assessments are where the assessor feels they have enough information without any further, or minimal, input from the claimant.

My helper who did the mandatory review for me as I got no points, even though she could hear what they saying. She challenged someone over the phone and was told it could be a first aider who does it

@Kimi87 it was a telephone assessment that lasted over 2 hours.

@DepressedAnxious I am shocked how bad your report is, but this happens regularly and is nothing personal. A PIP Decision Manager does not always go on that assessment report and since you have been awarded PIP, this may be the case. I gather the Mandatory Reconsideration is to increase your award, try not to discuss the errors in the assessment report, you can mention a few, but concentrate on where you think you should have got more points describing your difficulties due to your disabilities per descriptor. Hope all goes well for you!

I was referring to the second assessor, who you said you did not speak to.
