help with my service charges as im on pension credit.

Hello, my username is cherry pie and im a retired lady living in st annes, im wanting to buy a flat but it has service charges and wondered if i can get help with those as im on pension credit and guarantee too….my hobbies are walking , and yoga …and love reading.

    hi iv just joined scope, and wanting to move to a flat which has service charges , can i get help with them if im on pension credit please….iv heard yes, but just need some conformation before i purchase the flat, as the service charges are £240 per month…many thanks x

    Hi,

    As you are above state pension age, housing costs will be managed by your local council rather than Universal Credit.

    Local councils can make their own rules so they can be different across the country. For this reason, you should contact your local council directly to ask them if they'll cover service charges in your circumstances.

    I think it would depend on the nature of the tenancy, like if it's a housing association, private rental, buying it, or whatever
