Hello, I was awarded ESA and put in the support group in 2019 however I was only entitled to national insurance credits due to having not payed enough contributions between 2017-2018 ( the only year that hadn't had enough). But now I'm wondering if I should be entitled to any money as it's been 5 years and iv had national insurance credits? I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance

    Unfortunately the answer is no, the NI credits you've earned since 2019 do not count towards eligibility for payment for New Style ESA.

    To be eligible for payment you would need to have gotten sufficient NI credits from working in the last two years.

    Thanks .this is the answer I thought I was going to get .seams so u fair as in all the years I have worked and paid NI,the only year I didn't contribute enough because I was to sick to work is the year they used to see if I was eligible.thanks for your response.
