What happens next after a health professional looks at your PIP claim?

    I'm in the process of applying for pip, had my " health professional is looking at your claim" on 30th of last month. What can expect nxt? Sorry for going off topic.

    Hi @waylander9602, usually it'll be the assessment stage. You'll be invited for an assessment, where they'll ask you some more questions about your claim. These are often on the phone but can be in person. The assessor will then write a report and send it on to a decision maker who decide whether to award you PIP and what level of payments you might be eligible for.

    Sometimes you'll have what is called a 'paper based' assessment which means they don't need to speak to you and will make a decision based off what you wrote in your forms.

    Thank you. It's all very stressful not hearing anything, does it normally take this long for the health professional to make their decision about if I need an assessment?

    It can do unfortunately @waylander9602, it can sometimes take a few weeks for them to get through things. Fingers crossed you hear back soon!

    I had the usual text today saying they are still looking at my claim.

    They've had it for 3 months.
