Hi, my name is Peanut2020! Is there anything else I can do to challenge this UC issue?
I have been reading the messages on the issues for people transitioning to universal credit and LWCRA when being a carer. I myself are in the same position, luckily if you call it that. My decision on LWCRA was from the 10th February. So instead of getting a little extra I lost over £200.00 a month and too add insult to injury they then took another £90.00 off me a month for the backdated money I shouldn’t receive. Then last month they decided I owed more money, so the process of claiming back arrears starts again. What’s interesting when I first realised they were taking money off I requested a mandatory reconsideration, I was refused by Universal credit a there was no process. I took advice and got mandatory reconsideration. I have now been waiting over three months and have been losing nearly £300.00 a month including arrears. Could anyone advise me if there is anything else I can do as there is no time scale for a mandatory reconsideration. For example could I just appeal or would it take to long?. I reckon if the decision was in UC favour it would be done much quicker.

Unfortunately you cannot appeal until you have the outcome of the Mandatory Reconsideration.
Your MP should be able to offer assistance in liaising with the DWP.

hi peanut 2020, i’ve been awaiting the results of a man rec since feb. They refused to do it at first, but by the end of march they succumbed and submitted it. Now, in the middle of august, still awaiting a response. I have asked for updates but was given the snooty response - you will receive a letter, if you do not receive a letter then your case is still being decided. This p’s me off! 6 months is a long time, and i’m really struggling on the massive cuts they made. But we need to hang on in there and await their decision. I have everything I need ready for the appeal should the need arise. Hopefully it won’t come to that, but get ready just in case. Good luck
