Just had our UC review...
Good afternoon….
I know every ones review is different….
We were a bit worried after reading all the horror stories…..about how intrusive they were, my appointment lasted about 10 minutes on the phone and my partners even less…
They ask why there was no rent payments going out of the bank and other bills like electric….i explained we use a credit card for everything we pay for…to get the Tesco clubcard points and she said ohhh what a good idea….then asked about 1 payment of £50 (it was to myself) in the bank in March and i said ill be honest ive no idea what that is…it could be anything…and that was it on that question….last thing she asked was why did we withdraw £300 cash out on a certain day….and i was honest…it was for my weekend away…..and that was it
The only thing we had to do afterwards was to update our savings on our journal…..
As i said everyones review is different…this post is to reassure people there is nothing to worry about…just be honest with the advisor…if you try and be dishonest they will find out.

Thank you for sharing your experience @Mrevertonone, it's helpful and reassuring for others to be able to read the sort of things discussed and asked. I'm really pleased it went well for you. 🙂

hi there, were they satisfied with explaination about withdrawing cash? I withdraw cash regularly for daily living, and worry about another review

Hi kingston,
nothing top worry about, she asked what was the £300 we withdrew for…and i said it was for the weekend out i had…and she was happy with that.
And she was happy with everything being paid on the credit card…as we get clubcard points

Hi, I'm just curious to know if they only ask about what you have spent your money on if your savings are above the £6,000 limit, or do they ask no matter what savings you have in the bank. I know they do more checks now but I don't understand why it's so intrusive.

Hi lily84
I think they ask no matter what you have saved…we are under the £6K and never been over it….the only thing the lady asked was us to do was update our savings as last updated 2021…i think they just pick 2 random amounts from your bank account and ask about them

I have zero savings. It will be interesting to see whether I get asked for statements. Not been asked in the 7 or so months on UC.

OK thanks. I just think it's really intrusive especially if you are under the £6k limit. Do they tell you why they need to know about things like your payment bills etc, or why you took some of your own money out of the bank? Also from the looks of it they have access to everything in your account otherwise how would they know these things. I'd be inclined to tell them to mind their own flipping business. (probably wouldn't go down very well though ha)
