Hello

Just checking this calculation and what the TP would be at all. We basically moved into a HA property (from private) the day we applied for UC on migration, and a new area I was on mixed IR ESA and CB ESA and had a lot of premiums added so was on ESA £328 per week, The new amount seems so much less.

The private rent in London was 300 a week and this rent is a lot lower being social 123.49 a week in a different area.

Moving from ESA support on migration Mixed age couple One on DLA and older on PIP high both .No children HA 2 bedroom weekly rent .No free weeks rent £123.49 per week Carer duties
Capitol under 6000

Couple allowance over 25                            628.10
Rent HA 123.49 per week  x 52 / 12           (535.12)
14% bedroom tax  housing element            460.20
Carer Element                                             201.68
LCWRA                                                       423.27
SDP TP                                                       483.88

Equals                                                      2197.13
MINUS                                     NS ESA   609.05
State Pension                                          997.75

EQUALS UC                                           590.33
(Then pay landlord the full rent per week 123.49 x4  equals 493.96)

Does anyone know if I would get any TP at all ?

Thanks

Transitional Protection is calculated on your UC award before any deductions are made.

You've written down a SDP TP amount of £483 in your breakdown, so I'm not sure why you are then asking if you would get it.

If you add the New Style ESA and UC together that makes £1195, you need to consider both of them as your new income not just the UC amount.

You could take your statement to a trained benefits advisor for them to look at:

Or Citizens Advice have a Help to Claim service, one of the things they offer is checking your first payment statement. This is a national service run by phone and webchat, not linked to your local branch.

Many thanks. Its my first statement to come soon. I just want to make sure its correct when it comes through soon

I think I was meant to write SDP TP couples for that which I believe that is. Also as I was getting 328 a week plus my partners pension it seems lower thats all. Also the rent being paid as well. Just making sure I am informed.

    Thanks for the links

Oh sorry I thought you had got your first statement.

I'd definitely get a professional calculation done, or check of your first statement as your claim is quite complex.

As you moved to UC through a migration notice, your Transitional Protection will be calculated on legacy benefit income versus UC entitlement.

Thanks. No I'm getting it next week. Just want to get a bit of advice so I can act quickly to sort it out

We used to have SDP couples rate and a lot of premiums due to my partners age etc

So it looks a lot less now

But I will look into a professional calculation

    Thanks
