I worked from a young age too, the phone was that thing in the lobby that your dad wouldn't let you use, and I would have thought you caught tadpoles with an internet! 😉

Modern life won't allow us to live simply. Funnily enough, I don't have a telephone in the house, and neither do many of us now, just a mobile.

My tv is on it's last legs and quite frankly, i don't have much of a reason to replace it. Today's programmes just get on my wick!

I listen to the radio much more than staring at the idiot's lantern.

Above are the building blocks of my first garden in 42 years, albeit in a container way. With the plants I have gone for, they are a mix of hardy perennials with a rose as a centre piece. I hope that they will attract bees and other wildlife over time. 🐝 🐞 🐛

Above is kind of the second stage of personalising my patio, the way the three mats are laid out is the width of my patio outside my front door. I’m going to be like a clampit and sit outside on a rocking chair watching the world go by, hopefully over the next 18 months a dog will be sat with me.

I plan on putting 3 perennial poppies in tubs with a Tommy as a tribute to three great great great uncles killed in the Great War.

I have to say I much prefer to see all the little poppies popping up around the garden free gifts from the birds

    sadly I don’t have a garden,

something I do wish I had as I’m an ex professional gardener. But all I’ve got is a small patch of flags between a brick pillar and my bins. Just have to make the best out of what I’ve got. One of the things I’m doing is putting some flower is a pair of hiking boots and old work boots.

when my grandad retired he would go and tend the gardens for his neighbours free apart from a cuppa gave him something do and costs nothing

that’s wonderful what your grandad did.

If I could do that sort of thing I’d happily do it. But due to the downturn in my health since 2020, it’s just left me swimming against the tide all the time.

I just do the best I can each day, just waking up each day and drawing a breath, getting out of bed and making a small meal is a major win for me. I can no longer go hiking or camping due to my physical health, I donated all of my equipment to a local grammar school. I’m not even able to travel abroad due to being priced out by travel insurance companies due to the complex nature of my health conditions. I have lost a lot over the last 14 years, family that I never got to say goodbye to, two failed marriages and irrevocable breakdown in relations with my family. But I’ve always been an independent person since early childhood and have always been able to set my mind to something and do it. This is why I’ve got some gardening bits for just outside my flat and that will help me, if I’m not able to decorate inside my house due to my health, at least putting some pots out will do me good.
