my esa to uc migration .is this right?

hi, i have just migrated from income esa to uc.

i filled in application form on the 23rd july

my esa i was receiving was £489.30 a fortnight

on the 29th of july i received my usual £489.30

10 days later on the 8th of august i received £244.65. (this was the last payment i received)

i just received my uc statement and for my first payment and it says

assessment period 23rd july to 22nd august

you will receive total of £1,121 on the 29th august

which is

standard allowance is £400.14 a month

lcwra is £423.27

transitional protection is £297.88

if any one can please help ,my question is

have i got the right money now being paid to me on uc?

i thought i would have less a month

but to confuse me even more a friend said i should have more this month as there was about 3 weeks when i did not get a payment .

i don,t understand it very well.

    Hi,

    Transitional Protection takes UC up to exactly the same as your legacy benefits. The whole point of this is to make sure that you don't get less on UC than your old benefits.

    However, your Transitional Protection does look slightly higher than I'd expect. Did you also get any other Legacy Benefits that might have been used to calculate it?

    UC is paid one month in arrears.

    Each payment is based on your circumstances for the previous calender month, known as the Assessment Period.

    Ok, thank you. PIP isn't included in this, it's just the ESA. From those rates I believe you got Basic Rate over 25, Support Group, Enhanced Disability Premium and Severe Disability Premium.

    Your TP is around £60 more for the month than I would expect based on your previous ESA figures. I am not sure where that extra £60 has come.

    i just found out i cant ask them for 6 weeks as helper cant come until then but

    i just thought

    when i was on esa i have a 3 bedroom house so had 2 spare bedrooms

    but i only had to pay for the one spare bedroom

    my housing benefit on esa paid for the 2 bedrooms but not the third so i paid for the 3rd one out of my own pocket

    i have aprox £60 extra than i should have had on my uc transitional protection

    so does that mean that the extra £60 is transitional protection for the 2nd bedroom |(it does seem to equal about the same amount that i will need to pay for the spare bedroom )

    i dont think i explained it very well.

    but does uc give transitional protection for a extra bedroom that was being paid for by housing benefit.
