Income from lodger universal credit disregard
Can someone who owns a house and claims universal credit with SDP take a lodger and how would this affect his universal credit claim?

Income from a lodger is ignored, they will need to notify the council if any discount is applicable to their Council Tax.

I asked chatGpt and this is the reply.
Does a lodger have to be declared to DWP?

They own their house so no housing element is payable, even still, it doesn’t affect UC by having a lodger and income is ignored too. They can notify UC if they wish, the rules are different for Housing Benefit, which is what the screenshot you have posted is referring to. See this link:

SDP doesn't exist under Universal Credit. What you get is Transitional Protection.

I'm in the process of migrating to UC from ESA. If I take a lodger after migrating would I lose the transitional protection of SDP?

Having a lodger doesn't impact your UC claim, so your Transitional Protection will be unaffected.
