Joint Claim UC Help Please!
SCOTLAND
I currently live in a council property which is unsuitable for my needs as it has been causing me health issues and council are not taking the situation seriously. My partner suggested we rent a property together. I currently receive Adult Disability Payment (enhanced daily needs & motability) i also receive universal credit with limited capability for work. My partner works full time and earns £2000 per month. We have been offered a mid market property for £730 per month. I understand we will have to make a joint claim but i was wondering how much i will likely be deducted for this as i have tried to use online calculators and get different answers. I don’t want to be a burden to him & i’m worried that i will end up with no money after paying bills even though he has kindly offered to pay more towards rent etc. (i also have a car through motability scheme) so i don’t see the motability payment from my ADP claim. I’m not sure what else i can do as council are not willing to re house me even with gp letters & i am on a steroid inhaler 4 times a day as this property has a serious mould issue & i can’t bare to be here any longer especially as it’s getting colder!!!

Your Universal Credit award will be based on your circumstances as a couple. His wages could mean entitlement is reduced to zero.
You need to be sure the information you are inputting into different calculators is the same, you might be answering a question differently because it is worded differently. They are only as good as the information that goes into them.
Alternatively you could ask a welfare rights organisation to assist with a calculation:
Have you been in touch with your local authority Environmental Health department regarding the mould? Followed the complaint procedure for housing provider? If you aren't satisfied you can escalate to the Housing Ombudsman.
The imminent Awaab's law seems relevant to your situation:
