Universal credit is replacing six income based benefits including New Style ESA.
Citizens Advice have a Help to Claim service, they can support you before during and after your claim.

You shouldn't get less money due to Transitional Protection. This is an amount added to your Universal Credit to ensure you are no worse off.
It will not affect your PIP as this is a separate benefit.

As you live together you will claim UC as a couple. You'll be known as what's called a mixed age couple. His pension will be treated as income & deducted in full from your UC award.
Citizens Advice can answer any questions and help support you throughout the process.
