That time of year again!! Daughter struggling at college 2 days in

so this is my daughters second year at college after resitting English and maths, she passed English and a business gcse worth 4 passes. It was a struggle last year and we always struggle at the beginning of the academic year though till June when she finishes, the summer holidays are like a breath of fresh air.

I have had an email today from college that my daughter is not engaging in classes and has prolonged breaks in the toilet, even though I thought it had gone well as my daughter has not mentioned anything!!

I just don’t think the education setting gets autism!! I’m at a point where I’m going to give it a few weeks and pull her out, it’s like she is being tortured!!

But what other options are there? I know there are apprentaships and general employment but what have other people done?

She wants to work with SEND children eventually but how does she get there?

I just want her to have a happy life it’s driving me and her insane!!!

    The modern education system really isn't designed for neurodivergent people unfortunately, I know I struggled badly from college upwards. Some are lucky and are fine, others not so much.

    I'm really sorry she's struggling again @tigerstar could it be worth gently asking about, in a safe space, with promises of no judgement? Does she have any kind of reasonable adjustments in place?

    She has a few things in place yes like a toilet break half way through lesson, a weekly meeting with the learning support, I just don’t think anyone gets it! The email I had off her teacher today suggested he didn’t know she had struggles and is autistic, but when I spoke to him he had read through her profile and did know, it’s just the way he was demanding in the email to me which suggested it’s not going to work.
    there should be a college for what I call the missed generation where people get it

    That sounds like the teacher is trying to cover their back. It's worth trying to arrange a meeting face to face to get some more provisions in place for her, as it's very unfair to just pretend she's neurotypical.
