Help to find other work for autistic adult whilst in work

Hi,

I'm looking for any advice people may have regarding my partner's situation.

She is currently in her first job after university (been working in it for over a year now) and she simply isn't finding it easy. She was diagnosed with autism at about the age of 22 and is close to 25 now.

She struggles in the current job I think due to their attitudes or rather indifference to her needs and how people treat her there. She's had a bit of sick leave and also spoke with HR/manager about how they might be able to help.

But she just wants to quit. This isn't really an option due to financial reasons so she's also been looking at other work but so far, no luck.

Just wondering if anyone has advice on how she might proceed and get help or where she could look for work. Based in Sheffield.

Thanks all.

Heya @ricecake1400 welcome to the community. 😁

I'm really sorry to hear your daughter is struggling in work. Does she have any reasonable adjustments in place? This is something she's legally entitled to as per the Equality Act 2010.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

Yeah she's got a couple such as working from home when she can. Though due to business needs it's hard to always guarantee when and how often.

The main thing I'm looking for is guidance on where we might want to look at finding other jobs that might be better suited to someone with good writing skills but obviously not customer facing.

    Thanks

Sure thing @ricecake1400 it could be worth getting in touch with our Support to Work team, they may be able to suggest some places to try? They're lovely and will do their best to help.
