How likely is backpay for child disability element?
hi I’ve recently found out I’ve not been claiming the child disability element on my universal credit 16/11/2021 because I didn’t know this existed. However when I made my claim for carers allowance a few months after I stated on my if journal was there anything else I needed to do but I got no reply, My son on the higher rate care component they said they need to verify this how likely is backpay.
Any help or advice is much appreciated
Thanks 😊

I have seen other members here be awarded backdated Disabled Child Element. Some for several years worth.
You'll know if this is successful for you as a letter will be added to your Journal, saying they have allowed a late reporting of the change.
Then they'll work out backpay, a letter will be added to your Journal stating the amount owed due to underpayment. The money will then be paid within a few working days.
