Hi.

I handed in my first fit note on the 15th April due to breast cancer. I was awarded capability for work related activities on 7th July.

I receive UC on the 17th and 31st of each month so when will my payment be and will there be backpay? Thank you 😊

What date did you report the health condition?

Were Fit Notes handed in to UC without gaps? It's the date they are given to UC that counts, not the start date written on them.

Do you claim with a partner who gets LCWRA themselves, or have any Transitional Protection on your claim?

Hi thanks for your reply. I first noticed UC on the 7th April and fit notes was handed in with no gaps.

I claim single. I do have a transitional protection. I dont understand that either.

    Thanks 😊

LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods before LCWRA is added to your payment. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

My estimate of your waiting period:

April/May: Partial Assessment Period, not included for waiting period

    May/June: AP 1

    June/July: AP 2

    July/August: AP 3

    August/September: Eligible for LCWRA element

September 17th: First LCWRA element paid.

    Currently no backpay is owed.

Your Transitional Protection will reduce by the LCWRA element amount which is £423.27.

(Transitional Protection is added if your total UC award before deductions is lower than legacy benefits at the time of transfer. This erodes over time as other elements go up or new elements are added)
