hi, I have had PHN for 4 years now, from the back of my neck down my right arm, sometimes as far as my wrist, but generally to the inside of my elbow joint. I am on 75mg of Amitriptaline at night, 150 pregabalin in the morning and 300 pregabalin at night. I also use cocodamol and ibuprofen as back up. I still have a high level of pain, I can hardly bear clothes on my skin, and I get strong electric type shocks, particularly at night. I feel my GP has run out of ideas, I was referred to a local pain clinic, but again no fresh ideas other than to leave me feeling it’s all in my head.
It’s particularly bad just now, and I’m feeling sore and tired and completely fed up, so I apologise for being totally negative.
I’m 71 and this has completely floored me.
I am looking for a forum like this, to vent to others who actually understand, and hopefully finding some sage advice to help me get at least part of my life back

Thanks for letting me have a good old moan

Hi @lizzie54 Thank you for sharing your story so openly. Please don’t apologies you’re not being negative, you’re simply expressing what it’s like to live with something very tough, and that takes courage.

You are not alone in this. I also live with a cervical spine condition, and I completely understand how unbearable the pain can get at times. The constant struggle, especially with nerve pain and the exhaustion it brings, is something only those going through it can truly understand.

Even though it may feel isolating, please know there are others like me walking a similar path. We may not have all the answers, but we can share encouragement, strength, and the reminder that your pain and feelings are valid.

Sending you comfort and wishing you moments of relief and hope.

Hello Lizzie and welcome to the Scope forum 🤗

I had a google and PHN sounds ghastly. Avoiding processed food and restricting salt intake seem to be key for reducing symptoms.

Has your GP referred you to a nutritionist?

    Would a waterbed help?
