ESA CB support group

I know this a long shot but before I head into a world of googling with lots of misleading information I thought I would ask here.

Does anyone have any idea of when ESA CB support group reassessments will restart? I haven’t been reassessed for a very very long time and I’m concerned. I don’t know if it’s worth calling to find out ?

Many thanks ☺️

    Hi,

Support Group is an ongoing award. There are no set reassessments. Even if you call, you will only be given a 'recommended' date, which doesn't mean anything in the real world.

Unless your health has improved to the point where you would no longer be eligible, there is no need to do anything regarding ESA.

    Hi

I was reassessed February 2024 after not being co contacted by them for 13 years.

I remained in the support group.

Thank you for your reply ☺️

Will I be reassessed at some point even if they can’t tell me when?

You're welcome. You might be reassessed at some point in the future, but as none of us know when, it's really not something to worry about unless you get a letter from ESA.

I just want to assure I’m getting the right amount.

Hi. CB-ESA without any income-related top-up is currently £140.60 per week or £281.10 per fortnight.

    Hey,

After a call to ESA this morning and another to Citizens Advice I’m left torn.

I have been told I’m not due to be reassessed till mid 2027 ( I know it’s just an estimate) I’m super surprised about this as I have said it’s been nearly 9 years since I was assessed.
it’s left me wondering and worrying if I need to ask them to reassess me.

since I was first placed in the support group things have changed and although my conditions are still with me and I still struggle daily I manage them better recebtly. I would say my recovery is more stable then it has been.
When I asked citizens advice they told me any form of change needs to be reported and then they can choose to reassess me or including changes to medication ect.

I had a look through the ESA50 form and I still think that one section would apply to me and get me into the support group but I don’t know what got me into the support group in the first place, so this might have changed to then (2016)

If I report a change I know that being thrown back into work would set me back and ruin all the hard work on my recovery I know I would struggle to maintain my recovery and work. But I don’t want to be in the wrong group if they think differently.

I just wanted a little advice before I make any decisions.

    Many thanks again ☺️

If you feel you still meet a Support Group criteria, personally I would leave well alone.

    I agree with Kimi.

If you're still not fit for work, I wouldn't choose to rock the boat with a new assessment now.

I agree with @Kimi87 and @OverlyAnxious If you know you still meet Support Group criteria don't mess with your ESA. As you know, it's not a straightforward process. Don't do anything to damage your health.

Yes I have had a lot of advice similar to yours. I just want to do the right thing. I know I’m not able to work yet and would risk setting myself back and starting all over again. My opinion and DWPs are different though which is what worry’s me. I can’t find my original paper work to why I was put in the support group, I can only guess. I have looked through the ESA50 and I feel I would be entitled to support group based on one thing. If and when I am reassess if they see differently can I get in trouble? Because they think I don’t still deserve support group?

    Thank you ☺️

If your new assessment outcome wasn't support group, you wouldn't get into any trouble. The new decision would apply from the date of re assessment. They wouldn't go back any further etc.
