Is anyone paying for their COVID vaccine this year?

I have Cerebral palsy and over the last few years I have qualified for the winter COVID booster. However this year the government as moved the goal posts and has restricted the amount of people who can now have a free COVID jab. They seem quite happy to let the disabled just suffer and die. I have caught COVID a few times before and it has knocked me for 6. I am now having to decide if it's worth paying the £100 to have a private COVID jab. I don't want to be ill but I also don't want to spend unnecessarily money. Is anyone else thinking of paying for the jab ?

    Does CP count as neurological chronic disease? If so, you are entitled. I've had my last 3-4 boosters under that criterion. I don't wait for my GP to alert me anymore. I go online and book myself in, knowing I'm eligible. A pharmacist has never queried me eligibility when I've explained.

    Were I not eligible I'd have to pay £99 plus at least the same in transport and physical support to get private jab. I wouldn’t hesitate to pay if need be.

    For winter 2025 the criteria has now tightened considerably as the OP said.

    adults aged 75 years and over

    residents in care homes for older adults

    individuals who are immunosuppressed aged 6 months and over

    Read the finer details in the Green Book. I believe the OP is eligible.

    @Wibbles I don't have PD but we're eligible for the same reasons: chronic neurological disease as outlined in the Green Book on 1 September 2025.

    I spoke with my GP, they tried to give me the jab but higher management said no I didn't qualify.

    Fight on. Here are the guidelines issued on 1 September 2025. A CP patient is in a priority group (4 and 6) because you have a chronic neurological disease. You do not have to book in via your GP. Plenty of local pharmacies are administrating the NHS jabs in every area. Go online and pick your own time and place.
