Pip Tribunal Date

at long last i have a revised tribunal date, the last scheduled hearing was 30 July and was cancelled on the day because of illness from a tribunal attendee.

my new revised date is 13 October, fingers crossed. This has been a mammoth journey, I applied for PiP in November 23, had a telephone interview in Jan 24, I was then subjected to a 2nd telephone interview in March with no explanation as to why my first interview had not been acted upon. Having been awarded zero points, I went to MR and as expected the decision was not overturned. I am fully aware that pip is based on how a condition affects the everyday completion of daily activities and mobility. Although as a back stay, I have been engaging with mental health therapists since 2018, I withdrew completely in 2016 and broke contact with friends and family, although I was unaware at the time, this was a deterioration of my mental health which I am still having weekly therapy sessions. In addition I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, inflammatory arthritis, uncontrolled hypertension tension etc etc… my appeal and evidence to tribunal includes support from my doctor stating my depression and anxiety is debilitating, my rheumatologist supports my restriction of mobility, I am undergoing monthly meetings with my doctor, my social prescriber tells how I appear in meetings with her and my lack of interest in eating, personal appearance and that I spend most of my time in bed and rarely leave my property. I have provided details of my prescription history and on each point of the pip assessment argued what I feel the correct point award should be, this gives me in excess of 20 for daily living and 10 for mobility, a huge difference from the zero awarded.

Given my explanation above and the virtually 2 year process so far, is there any positive and up to date advice that anyone can share with me to avoid loosing my fight in tribunal and effectively 2 years of my life wasted in banging my head against a brick wall when I hear of instances where people have exaggerated their condition and how it affects them and awarded PiP with ease

Hi @Lanson66, that sounds like quite an ordeal to have been going through, I'm so sorry it's been such a difficult and drawn out process; especially with everything you've been going through. I have seen some really positive good news stories recently with regards to tribunal success shared on the community so I hope that can give you a bit of reassurance.

I think the best thing you can do is make sure you are as prepared as possible, have as much evidence as you can get your hands on, and research. It might be a good idea to try and contact an advisor at either Turn2us or Citizens Advice too. Hopefully some of our members who have been through this can provide their advice too.

I really hope that it goes ok and in your favour. Please keep us updated on how things are going, if you're happy to.
