It certainly worth a claimant mentioning aids that that are used but still leave significant limitations and aids that have been tried but have proved ineffective or even dangerous.

    Exactly so!

When I originally applied for DLA (20 years ago) - I mentioned that I used a leg brace - this, apparently went against me because despite being totally immobile without it - they looked at the brace as being an aid which allowed me to walk (as a limb replacement) - and so I was no longer classed as being immobile and was not given "DLA mobility".

When I converted to PIP (3 years ago) - I didn't mention my brace and was given 22 points for mobility.

    You explain that………

Thankyou for all your help and advice, I appreciate it. I contacted Citizens Advice, and they asked me for the documents I sent the DWP, plus the witness statements I didn't send, and they will get in touch with me in 7 - 10 days. Sometimes, it seems like we're being punished for being disabled!

I watched a video last night on PIP.

It was interesting to find out that, if cases go to tribunal, most of them win, as they have medical professionals and doctors there that specialise in the particular illness, actually read the form through thoroughly and listen properly!

That's very true @tommy2k17 I believe the win percentage is currently around 70% so tribunals are definitely worth fighting for. Personal experience has found tribunals to be a lot nicer and relaxed than the original assessments.

On the one hand, the DWP want to save money, but on the other, tribunals must cost a lot!
