UC Text Message Received

Hi everyone,
I hope you all are doing well, and have had a great week. I would be very grateful if any one here, has any idea or know what the following message is all about? A text message from the DWP was received recently which stated " Universal Credit will call you in the next few days about making a claim. The number we will call from is 08001690328."
I received a Managed Migration letter to UC a couple of months ago, but have not migrated as yet to Universal Credit due to circumstances beyond my control.
Many thanks in advance and have a great day!

Hi @crantockgirl3407, it does sound like they're calling you to follow up on your migration. If you've received a letter but not been able to migrate yet they may be looking to check in with you to see what's happening. After you received your letter, were you able to let them know the reasons why you've not been able to migrate?
Hopefully you'll hear back from them over the next few days and they can clarify things for you ☺️

Thank you very much @Rosie_Scope, the DWP can be quite complex at times. I did contact them via a letter stating that I would like an extension to claim UC. This letter was received approximately 4 weeks ago, as there is evidence of the tracking information which shows that it was delivered safely.
I did not receive any reply at all, in regard to that. Hopefully I will receive the call they mentioned in the text message I received from them, and hear what they have to say.
Is it normal for them to send text messages to claimants who have not yet migrated to UC when it is coming close to the deadline as a reminder for them to claim UC?

Hi @crantockgirl3407, Yes, from what I understand it's fairly common for them to send out these messages to anyone close to their migration deadline ☺️

yes it is part of the enhanced support journey, they will call you 3 times on 3 different days, if you do not answer the 3rd call, you will get an automatic extension for 4 weeks, followed by a text stating we will arrange for someone to visit you are home.

Hi,
Just for reference, tracking post to DWP doesn't mean they've read it. All that means is that it's reached the delivery hub and been bulk scanned by the postman. So it is still possible that it's sat in a backlog pile waiting to be read by DWP staff now.

Thank you very much @Drausus for providing this information. I did not have any clue that this was part of the enhanced support journey. I contacted the DWP 2 days ago, to inform them about change in circumstances, and the call operator asked me if I would like to make a UC Migration claim, as I was running out of time. I was not expecting that question at all, So, I said yes, and she transferred my call to a different department to assist me with making a UC claim.
Everything is now sorted, irrespective of the fact that whoever was supposed to contact me regarding a UC Migration claim, did not get round to phoning me. My UC migration claim was successfully made. I can't thank enough the very kind DWP call operator for mentioning to me that I need to make a claim for UC Migration.
Thanks to you @Drausus, and all the amazing Scope Online Community members for all your kind assistance in this matter, very much appreciated.

Thank you @OverlyAnxious for replying to my post, very much appreciated. You are absolutely right, about backlog piles of correspondence/letters waiting to be read by the DWP staff.
A friend of mine has just confirmed to me that the correspondence she sent to the DWP in July 2025, a month before I sent mine has just been read by a DWP member of staff irrespective of the fact that she sent it by Special Delivery which was delivered within 1 working day.
Many thanks again for your kind help, and have a great day!
