Uc Appointment Appointee

So after a week of waiting for someone to confirm an appointment after ESA migration to UC for our son I gave up on the journal and made a call. They have mad an appointment for 2 weeks time as it’s the first available. They gent on the call was lovely and said it was my ID that needed confirmation. However I’m confused as he asked would my son be attending with me as it didn’t show anything on his end as to whether he had to. I plan on taking all my ID and some bills etc. I also planned on taking his ID, bills, bank statements and letters from DWP as he had a backdated SDP made in May 2025.
So does my son need to come with me?
He is non verbal with strangers so will they except him to speak on his own behalf even though I am him as appointee?
Lastly will this hold his payment up, not that I am expecting it to be correct. ?
Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @NeuroEve, If it's just for your own ID, your son shouldn't need to attend the appointment. But if it's for his ID, it may be helpful to have him there if it's not too distressing for him.

    If your son does attend the appointment, they shouldn't expect him to speak if he's unable to. As his appointee, you're there to speak on his behalf and to help him use the system. They should understand this.

    I'm afraid I'm not too sure whether it will affect the date of his payment or not. It may depend on where you are within the assessment period once the ID has been verified. Perhaps you could ask at the appointment to see if they can clarify for you? Hopefully not too much more waiting, sounds like you've had a bit of a stressful time of it already!
