Hi @irtaza899, is your husband also your carer? And if so, are UC aware that he is caring for you and is he receiving the carer's element? He may be eligible for carer's element if you are on PIP daily living and he is caring for you for 35 hours per week or more. If he has caring responsibilities they may be able to remove any work requirements which might mean that the MIF won't apply. So it's well worth looking into whether this could be the case for you both. Are you claiming PIP at the moment? 0

Unfortunately at the moment he can't be officially recognised as your carer within the UC system, because you don't get a qualifying benefit, LCWRA doesn't count. 0

If your partner receives the Limited Capability for Work and Work-Related Activity (LCWRA) element of Universal Credit, the Minimum Income Floor (MIF)will not applyto your joint claim. This is because the DWP exempts claimants with LCWRA from the "all work-related requirements" group, which is a condition for applying the MIF. This means your Universal Credit payment will be based on your actual self-employed earnings, rather than a notional, higher amount. How your Universal Credit is calculated- LCWRA exemption:- Since your partner is not subject to work requirements, the self-employed MIF is lifted for your household.
- Joint income assessment:- Although the MIF is waived, your household income is still assessed as a couple. This means your self-employed earnings will be included in the calculation to determine your total Universal Credit entitlement.
- Work Allowance:- The LCWRA element also gives your household a higher Work Allowance, which is the amount of money you can earn before your Universal Credit payment is affected. This means you can earn more from your self-employment before your benefits are reduced.
What to do if the MIF is wrongly applied If you find that the MIF is still being applied to your claim, you should contact the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) immediately. You can do this by leaving a message on your Universal Credit journal. This can happen due to an administrative error. That’s all I found on google What’s that about than ? 0

I suggest you talk to a trained benefits advisor rather than AI. 0

I would also advise that you check with a benefits adviser as the rules surrounding joint claims tend to be quite complicated. 0
