UC Query

            Hi everyone,
I hope you all have had a good start to the week, and keeping safe and well. I phoned the DWP today to enquire about something, and before the phone call ended, the call handler told me that there is a request on my UC Migration file to provide a fit note and that I must provide this fit note without any further delay.
I am in the LCWRA, ( Support Group) and told her that I do not need to provide a fit note. She said that it is a one off requirement because I made a UC migration claim recently via the phone. She was very polite on the phone but at the same time she made it clear that I must contact my GP and provide a fit note.
I am confused by all this. What I would like to know is: I'm I required to provide a fit note to the Universal Credit Team for my ESA migration to Universal Credit? I would be very grateful for any assistance in this matter. Thank you.

Hi @crantockgirl3407, You shouldn't need to provide a fit note if you're migrating over from ESA. As you say, they should be moving you straight into the LCWRA group and you don't usually have to send any fit notes in to do that. Sometimes it takes a little while for the system to update when you're in the process of migrating over and the people on the phone lines don't always get it right. As long as you've had a Work Capability Assessment on ESA and nothing else has changed, you shouldn't need to provide one. If you have access to your journal you could try putting a message there to say again that you were in the ESA support group and you shouldn't need to provide a fit note. Hopefully they can get it all sorted for you. ☺️ 1

Hello @Rosie_Scope, Thank you for your kindness, and also for replying promptly to my post. My carer rang the DWP to obtain clarification as to why a fit note is required for my UC Migration. This was done half an hour after I received your reply to my enquiry. The information that was provided is that, I last had a WCA in 2018, and since then, they are not aware of any health information and or medical updates regarding my health conditions. As a result of that, a Case Manager will need to contact me some time next week to explain to me, what the next step is. What I can tell you is that my stress levels has increased enormously after my carer finished talking to the DWP call handler. I was listening to the phone call by the way, as my carer had it on the speakerphone function! I will now wait for the phone call to see what the Case Manager has to say regarding the fit note. Many thanks again, and I hope you and everyone here in this forum, have a very pleasant and relaxing weekend. 1

I think you've been told a load of nonsense, once ESA confirm your award with UC you'll receive the UC equivalent automatically. See the Government's own website. 1
