Did all the right things but still didn't cope

Or maybe it was a Kobayashi Maru situation @KindaSurviving ? If you want to talk, we're all here for support.

and now i've managed to post before it was written, anyway, tried to plan a trip today on the train - only 30mins travel time. Booked everything beforehand, ate right, slept right, got the timing right, took the right pills at the right time. Got on the train and all my senses said NOPE, not gonna happen. It was hot and stuffy and everything felt slightly tacky and all the people felt very close. I had 5mins before the train left the station and i lasted about three before getting up and going back to the platform. So frustrated with myself.
Anyway thanks for reading, just needed to vent.0 -
The main thing is you gave it your best @KindaSurviving public transport isn't fun at the best of times, so well done for even getting on that train, I'd call that a win, even if you didnt get to where you planned.
Could it be worth trying again in a few weeks, but look at travelling at off peak times, so it wouldn't be as busy?1 -
Thanks for kind words, the train was due to depart at 9:45 so think i was just unlucky with the number of people onboard. As you say i'll give it a another go in a couple of weeks, just frustrated at the wasted ticket money and prep time. Its a journey I've done before without issue, I loathe the unpredictability of my ASC, every day feels like a complete lottery.

It's good you'll give it another go. Sometimes the old 'tism just decides that today is not the day for anything. I can totally empathise there. You'll smash it next time @KindaSurviving 😁

I know it's not possible for everyone but I find sometimes things are easier if I don't premeditate them, because it adds pressure (from myself, mostly) and I've more to lose if I don't follow through – in your case all the setup that morning and the cost, too
Almost all the times I've achieved stuff that I've struggled with, I've invested nothing into preparing or setting up, so there's nothing to lose. Sometimes the opportunity just presents itself, there's zero pressure as you've invested nothing so've nothing to lose
Impulsivity might or might not be something you can relate to, but it comes with my conditions. Most of the time it works against me, but sometimes when there's a genuine opportunity in front of me – my sensible mind will be telling me to take the safe option –sometimes it's advantageous to let the impulsivity do its thing
