Moved from ESA TO UC

edited October 8 in Universal Credit (UC)

Hello Can someone give me advice? So I moved from esa support groups to uc on September 1st. I received my first statement and it looks like this. £0 I've gone from £489.80 a fortnight to £601. My monthly total was £ 979.60 without the housing benefit being taking from it but now its £973.36 with my housing getting taking from it. I was told I would get TP to make up the loss but looking at my statement if I'm reading it correctly then I am not. They aren't even covering all my housing anymore either. Sorry my grammar is awful. I was googling help as I have no one and found this page. Hoping for some advice.

Your statement is missing LCWRA element.

It isn't uncommon for the first statement to be incorrect, specifically this issue it means the communication between ESA & UC after applying isn't complete - as the number of migration letters has gone up so have backlogs due to more people moving over.

Add a Journal note (using the payment option) highlighting this.

Once this has been done your award before deductions will increase by £423.27.

You'll know when this has been sorted as a letter will be added to your Journal stating the amount owed due to underpayment. The money will then be paid within a few working days and a new version of the statement added.

Do you have any service charges alongside your rent? UC will only pay for some, and not all.

Thank you for that fast reply, i haven't had a nights sleep with worrying.

I got an email from uc saying they would pay

£391.26 but now they are only paying £347.64 ...I have rates at £13 but I filled out a form to get this paid separately uc said they don't pay that. I've no service charges. Its just my housing ex I pay. I was getting help with spare bedroom. I told them I need it for my son who cares for me.

If it was a reduction due to them seeing you as having a spare bedroom I would expect to see different wording on the statement.

There was another user this week in NI who had issues with the amount of Housing Element paid, see my first post in the thread below as I feel the same advice applies.

Thank you kimi87. I have put a not in my journal to say the LCWRA element is missing. Have a lovely day.

A warm welcome to the community from me @sineadcass78

It's lovely to have you here on the community and I hope you find the forum to be a safe and supportive space.

Just to let you know I have removed the first screenshot as it contained personal information which goes against our house rules😊

If needed you could add another Journal note (again using the payment option) asking for an explanation of the Housing Element payment so you know why they aren't paying the full amount.
