Unsuitable recomended adaptation
Hi back in may this year i had an OT visit my home for an adaptatiin of a ground floor shower room/ wet room im relyent on my wheelchair due to savear mobility issues and outher complex needs i have nowere adiquate to bath in my home the upstairs bathroom needs to stay as it is for my full time carer / daughter and her 2 disabled chikdren who have complex needs also and need it,the OT did not let me have any input of what i needed for my current needs or my futchure recomended needs and i was refused a revisit to rectyfy things as there report was incompliete misding crutial information regarding the relyencey on my wheelchair so after visits from suvayors and social care who also whent on the incompleite OTs report i had no choice but to refuse it they closed the case,so i made 2 formal complaints to both organiseations...i had a responce off the OT and they have now fully amended there report and sent it over to adaptations team, they also whant to attend again with a survayor to look at this unsuitable adaptation to see if anything can be done to accomadate a rolling self prepell shower chair and a hiost no affence but im quaulified as a nurse in my past jobs years ago i cant work now due to my complex needs i know what aids are for what and how they are used..im fully knolagable on this but the adaptation the OT recomended was way to tinny and compact,i need an extention on the back of my home, the previous disabled tenent had one built to extend the kitchen same size as im asking for so it can be done, under the Equaulity ACT i have rights and they have been breached so far,so im looking for some advice please can i request that the OT recomend this extention because i need it to live safely and independently in my home my GP has written me a strong supporting lettetr also that these organisations have a coppy of,im unable to move out due to leagil persnal resons so this is not an opption for me,what advice would you give me on my next OT visit please sorry for the long message but i needed to be clear on what has gone rong and how these people can rectify it thankyou in advance

Hi @wazza57, I'm afraid I'm not very clued up on adaptations myself, but I hope our members might be able to share some advice.
If you'd like to speak to someone about everything that's been going on, you could try ringing the Scope helpline tomorrow: They might be able to let you know what the best plan of action is and whether there are any other things to try.
Hope you can get it all sorted soon!
