The request for cash strikes me as odd unless it is the Practice policy for paying for other services such as holiday inoculations, insurance data, etc. But please don't give up your PIP claim. Taxis are expensive, I know, but your PIP back-pay will cover the expense of the letter and transport.

I won’t travel on my own . Some days I wake up and can’t even stand in front to let dog out my doctor knows this . If said card payment id do it . I feel I’ve submitted a lot of evidence and literally bared my soul till i literally feel empty and absolutely lost . I hate things like this . I struggle loads and I’m only comfortable with ppl close to me and even then i sometimes push them away when have a bad day . It’s horrible literally telling them your things and being judged . 🥲

Do you have a friend or family member who could take the payment on your behalf?

Could the cash be posted if you can't make journeys?

I'm surprised they wouldn't take card payment over the phone.

    Just don't give up.

My GP surgery only gained a card machine a few years ago.

crazy isn’t it ? I never have cash. Shocking really tbh that charge but il pay it and cut back on a bill . But tbh I just keep reading people getting knocked back . I think they think oh ppl won’t appeal and I’m not sure I have it in me to do so as was stressful enough when I went through it with esa. They make you feel like begging which make you feel worse . Heard they try trip you and make you second guess your self . Not sure I have the mental capacity to do it . X

It would be a "reasonable adjustment " for you GP to accept a card payment or bank transfer.

I hope you sent enough evidence to ensure a paper assessment. Why not add to it? Write to PIP or contact them in some way and say that you cannot get a letter from your GP for the reasons you've given here.

If the assessor needs more information before making a paper based assessment they will write to your GP.

Yes. It's horrible. I still feel soiled by DWP assessments despite their being paper based. But don't give up. You are a valid claimant.

Never happens . Would have to be severe emergency in shocking I know x

A Practice surely has a bank account for a BACS payment. It's hard to picture their receptionists lugging all that cash to their nearest bank at the end of the week.

Can you cope with the phone? If so, why not get in touch with the surgery tomorrow, put the problem to them and offer to transfer the fee via the bank? The must come up with something to help you.

My GP also asked for cash. When I queried this it was because the support letter is not done under the NHS (so the surgery cannot take payment) - it is done under the Private treatment heading.

The doctor is not allowed to insist on cash. I would report them to the practice manager to start with.

The doctors surgery can ask for cash payment because it is highly unlikely that they will have a card reader to take payment.

They can because its classed as 'private work'.

I paid cash, 45.00 for my doctor's letter although it cost 70.00 with my cab there and back. It was to be done within 28 days (early September 2023) it was done by mid December 2023. I did think of asking for a refund but thought better of it 🙄😁.
