Attendance allowance phone call

in PIP, DLA, ADP and AA

I applied for attendance allowance on 2nd October 2025 ,I had a call today to say I could get it from phone number 08000232635 lady said I would get a letter by Monday, she asked do I want it paying into the account my pension is paid into, I said yes and stupidly gave my bank account number and sort code, and the name on the account, now I'm worried if it was a scam call and I've given my details. Does anyone know if the phone number is legit

    HI @sunwatcher37. I've checked and that phone number is used by the DWP so no need to worry. It might be worth saving that number so you know it's them in future.

    Totally understandable to panic, the DWP have that effect on a lot of people! I'm sure it'll all be fine and you'll get your payments soon.

    It was the fact I had given my bank details that made me panic ,I thought nothing of it for a few hours then realised what I had done

    Lots of people get caught out with scams and give their details away. I'm sure you'll be more aware of it in future, but at least this time it was all ok.
