How to request a Mandatory Reconsideration with PIP

Hi all

I applied for a review on my PIP back in August due to my mobility worsening as a result of my disability. I recieved my award letter yesterday and, let's just say, I am absolutely heartbroken, the decision explanation is riddled with things that are totally untrue, but the worst part of it, is the section about my ability to walk/move.

The decision states "I have decided you can stand and then move unaided more than 20 metres but no more than 50 metres" which is just blatantly untrue, as I used a walking stick all of the time and struggle to even walk to the bathroom as a result.

I know there is a MR form I can fill in, but does this have to be done or can I just write them a letter with the information and request MR from there?

I am beyond angry and upset right now and I don't want to go into this with too much emotion but also I cannot just sit by whilst there is a blatant mistruth in this decision which has made the difference between my mobility rate being standard or enhanced.

    @VxckiLouise Have you lost your award or just never got the enhanced rate for mobility? A Change in Circumstances is treated as a new claim. Don't take it to heart, what the decision states is what a lot of claimants get, they have to say something which is usually untrue to refuse you your claim!!!

    You complete your MR in writing, explaining where you should have got the points and why. Don't call PIP as they may do it over the phone and you will not be sure what has been written down....

    Thanks for your response. I haven't lost my award, no, it had just remained the same despite a significant reduction in my mobility since my initial award of PIP.

    I do believe that is exactly what happened here, as I specifically stated that I use my walking stick all of the time, then as I mentioned, when the decision came back it states I can walk more than 20 metres unaided!

    You can use the MR form, write your own letter or phone and request an MR. Whichever feels right for you, though generally it’s best in writing. The MR form does limit how much you can write! I discovered this at the end of last year though I didn’t have much to say so still used it for ease

    If your award is the same why do you want to do an MR? Did you expect a higher award?

    The OP's condition is worse and put in a Change of Circumstances, but the award has stayed the same, hence an MR...
