UC/Pension

I start receiving my pension on the 28th January 2026 which is when UC payments will stop,i have had a letter saying that I will receive a part pension payment on 30th January covering the 28th to 30th and full payment will start on 27th february.

My UC assessment period is the 23rd to 22nd with payment on the 29th which will be my last UC payment.

My question is,will I get a part payment from UC to cover 23rd January to 27th January with my assessment period being 23rd to 22nd?

I have left a message on my journal asking the same but have yet to get a reply.

    UC don't do part payments.

You should receive another UC payment from the 23rd January- 22 February AP.

UC carries on being paid for the AP in which you reach state pension age.

They might deduct your SP payment from January.

This is the message on my journal.

At the end of the assessment period in which you turn 66, you will no longer be eligible for Universal Credit. This means the Universal Credit payment after your 66th birthday will be the last one.

That's the same as my advice.

You turn 66 on 28 January.

The end of the AP in which you turn 66 is 22nd February (23 Jan- 22 Feb).

So you will receive a UC payment for that AP.

The journal message makes it sound like my payment on 29th jan will be the last one.

    I see what you mean.

I think they've probably done a quick copy/paste reply with the standard answer without looking into your dates.

From looking at your dates I can tell your last payment should be from the Jan-Feb AP.

Its a few month off yet so will just have to wait and see, i have read somewhere that I will get a letter from UC (probably on my journal) explaining what will happen.

You could always run the dates past a trained benefits advisor and see what they say.

    @Kimi87

    Update:

I have just had a message on my journal saying my claim will close on 23rd February!

I can usually see my statement on the 23rd of the month but its not showing today.

23rd Feb would be the start of your Feb-Mar AP so that seems correct.

Payment for 23 Jan- 22nd February should be unaffected.

My statements are usually available early too (26th) but this isn't guaranteed and there have been a few months when it hasn't been available until the official date (28th).

I'm due to receive my 1st full pension payment £974 on 27th February and UC £823 on the 29th, I assume one will be deducted from the other somehow.

Because of my Jan - Feb AP am I right in thinking that I should receive something from UC to cover Jan 23rd - January 28th ?

as your pension is more than your UC amount (and is deducted in full from UC) it doesn't seem likely you'll receive any UC on 27th Feb

Not even to cover 23rd to 28th jan where I am still on UC?

I don't get state pension just my private pension but are uc and state pension paid in arrears so you may get uc last payment then pension starts the following month just a thought

Ooooh I just saw your first pension payment if AFTER your UC assessment period ends. I don't know if pensions are paid in arrears like benefits so please ignore my earlier post - if it's paid in arrears it will likely be deducted, meaning reduced or zero UC but otherwise you'll get the payment as normal.

Do you know what period the payment on 27th Feb from your pension is meant to cover?

I get a one off payment on 30th jan to cover 28th jan - 30th jan so the 27th feb payment will be from 30th jan to 27th feb in arrears.
