Indefinite DLA

Hi, my Father is on indefinite DLA and won't transfer to PIP as he was born in 1942. He is only on low rate care but his needs are vastly different to when he was awarded it many years ago. Can we ask for him to be reassessed? I looked at Attendance Allowance since he is beyond pensionable age but it says you can't claim that while getting DLA so I'm not sure the best course of action.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi @chocolatefrog I haven't personally come across this situation before, however have done a bit of research and it looks as though he should be able to have an assessment without being forced to move to PIP as that rule remains. It might be a good idea to call the helpline to be absolutely sure though. There is a specific helpline for people born prior to 1948. I've added the information below for ease:

    DLA helpline - if you were born on or before 8 April 1948

    Telephone: 0800 731 0122
    Textphone: 0800 731 0317 Relay UK (if you cannot hear or speak on the phone): 18001 then 0800 731 0122
    British Sign Language (BSL) video relay service if you’re on a computer - find out how to use the service on mobile or tablet
    Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm
