I’m after some advice and tips please regarding the refusal for renewal of my Blue Badge by Notts CC which I have held since 2018 and expires next month. I was awarded the Enhanced Rate for Daily Living and the Enhanced Rate for Mobility. I do not have enough points however under descriptor 1E - but I scored 12 points for Planning and Following a Journey (Descriptor 1F), confirming that I cannot safely follow the route of a familiar journey without assistance. I am awaiting some new evidence from the Occupational Heslth Assessor - but in the meantime any experience or legal appeal advice would be appreciated. Thanks Rory

    Hi,

Being unable to safely follow a journey without assistance does not automatically mean you would benefit from the use of a blue badge.

You will need to explain to the council why you would personally benefit from the badge compared to other people. Why do you need to park closer to a store for example?

Personally I found it easy enough to be accepted for a manual BB application, I did not need any professional input, although that was with a different council.

If you don't fit into an automatic criteria Type 1, you'll need to apply on the basis of discretionary criteria Type 2 instead.
