PIP Assessment

A question and bit of a rant. So I had a txt from pip/DWP nearly 3 weeks ago saying that a Health professional was looking at my claim, they would contact me with an appointment if they need to, this is the same message my friend got on the exact same day but with 24 hours she was given appointment for the week after so early last week but I have not had any appointments and it not like our claims are different, mostly the same sort of issue we are claiming for so I do not understand why I still not even had appointments yet. Not sure what is going on and should I ring up to check why I have not had appointments yet or see if they can make me appointment. And yes we live in same city and the same area so it not because of geography issues.

This sounds very frustrating @jo1984, i think giving them a call to check is a good idea as hopefully you'll be able to get some answers that way just so you have peace of mind😊

Thank you @Mary_Scope. Yes I will given them a ring, even if they do not have appointments yet, at least they can given me a timeframe. Jo

Question, should I ring PIP or the company that does the assessments.

PIP won't be able to help as they are waiting for the report from assessment agency.

So it's the assessment agency you need to contact.

Thank you @Kimi87. Just wanted to be sure that I was ringing the right place. Hopefully can get an update on when my appointment will be.

Update still no appointments. It getting very annoying, I no someone who had the text saying that a Health professional is looking at you case nearly two weeks after I had my txt, and he had his appointment and the report is back with the DWP (pip) without 24hrs. And I sign up for pip weeks before him and the txt about the health care provider looking at my case weeks before and I still been messed about. I rang up and they just said on someone is looking at your case and that I may not need appointment, it could be a paper base assessment but if it a paper base assessment, it should still not take over a month to get my report back to the dwp. I going to make a formal complaint now because I no a lot of people thing that can treat people with dyslexia like we are stupid and we do not understand stuff but I not like that I will fight for my rights and I stick up for myself when people try to mess me about.

So do I make the complaint with them or the DWP or both or is there a third party I need to report it to.

Hi @jo1984. Sorry this is causing you so much stress. Not everyone will need an appointment so that may be the case for you. I understand seeing someone else's application get sorted quickly when you're waiting is frustrating but it's just how it is sometimes, especially with PIP. I've been waiting for my review to be sorted since the beginning of this year.

I completely understand. It's a very frustrating process but hopefully it won't be too much longer before it gets sorted for you.

I have been waiting since may for a review, they have written to say they have extended my pip by a year, however that I'm still awaiting review which could still happen at any time.

Its very unfair and add stress and uncertainty. Also effects my motability wheelchair, as I can't get new while under review.

So am in a terrible position.

    Update still no appointments.

Trying to make a formal complaint and they are ignoring me, so way more stressful than it needs to be.

Honestly, I am at a point where I believe that they are treating me unfairly, my mum, family members and friends who are on pip or trying to claim pip had there appointment with a 2 weeks after they had the txt about a health care provider looking at your claim but not one of them is claiming in part for a learning difficulty. I am the only one who is and I the only one who had to wait for nearly 6 weeks and counting for appointment. So in my head I think they are treating me like a stupid and that I will not stick up for myself but unlike they my mum, family member and friends, I the only one who been university and graduate has a criminologist so no I may have a learning difficulty but I not stupid, but I think some people still think dyslexic means stupid and knows nothing. Sorry for the rant but I do frustrated and getting so annoyed about this.

Try and stay calm and try not to compare your claim to others. It is not helping and stressing you out. The whole PIP process is very frustrating and stressful as it is. I can't say why you have not had an Appointment date but claimants are waiting months for reviews currently. You may have sent in enough information and evidence that an assessment is not needed so you will not get an Appointment. You may have had/going to have a paper based assessment. All you can do is contact the assessment company for updates, which you are doing. Hopefully you hear something positive soon!
