PIP review panic..

I’ve been claiming PIP since 2017, at first it was the standard rate of daily living and mobility but increased to enhanced for both in 2023.

I had a text yesterday saying a review form has been sent out as it’s time for it to be reviewed and I’m panicking. I have a car on the motability scheme and all I can think about is what if they take everything from me.

I know a few people on PIP who’ve lost all their award and are going through a horrible appeal and I’m just panicking that I’ll end up in the same boat.

I suffer from bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and some mobility issues, all of which are diagnosed so I have the evidence.

I did ring my GP yesterday asking for a letter off my doctor just to help support my review but the next appointment with my GP is mid December so it’ll be too late.

Instead I’ve had a print out of my medical record which includes diagnoses and medication etc.

Is there anything else I should consider attaching? My last MRI was 2019 so there’s no point attaching that letter again.

Hi reedy, I understand you as I am in the middle of a coc/MR at the moment. They do appear to be trying to downgrade everyone, although mine was kept the same I am challenging them because I have suffered decades of institutional and systemic abelism and lack of support which has impacted my whole life, leaving me in deprivation and without basic human needs. So for me this journey is a little different and I am challenging decades of things. Good things to include would be any evidence you used before previously, any letters, any daily diaries you can write, any statements of support from ongoing services or mental health input, medication lists and things like that. There are plenty of templates out there for diary input and statement support. Good Luck! hope it all goes smoothly for you.

Treat it as a new claim and fill out the new form like you did the original, it is better than writing no change. Examples of what happened when you tried to do a task is helpful too. The DWP will have previous evidence sent in, but I would send in what evidence you think should be added. I would not worry over the Doctor's letter, they don't know how you struggle day to day. It is a worrying time but keep calm, a lot of claimants get re-awarded too!
