Can I send more information for DLA MR
hi I submitted a mr for my sons dla claim which was rejected he gets about 3-4 nosebleeds every day since he was 4 he is now 9 and still not got better Evan after countless times of having his nose cauterised he gets sent home from school a lot because they can not manage the bleeds he also has tight Achilles tendons which effect his mobility. I put the mr in June and called yesterday and told it’s still not assigned to a caseworker so I’m wondering would it be worth sending in personal statements from family members at this point or just wait and see

Hi @faifai2915. I'm sorry your son has to go through that everyday. You could send in personal statements from family members, especially if they are sometimes involved in his care. Remember to be detailed about what your son needs and how the person writing the statement helps him. I hope the process isn't too long for you.

thank you for that I will send it in then. To be fair they don’t help with the care but they do see the struggles I face as at times the bleeding goes on for a long time and my hands hurt from holding his nose but the decision maker says they don’t feel like I need to provide care for more than an hour. I actually feel like giving up at this point as they have basically made it like it’s not gonna get accepted but I know just how much care he needs

Don't give up. It's really difficult I know but keep fighting for it. Do Drs not know the cause of the nosebleeds then? It must be so disruptive to both your lives.

Go into detail about the last time he had a nose bleed and what you had to do. Actual examples are good. Mention also the tendon issues. Best of luck!

thank you and no he has been seen by specialists at London and been taken in by ambulance so many times all they say is its common and he will grow out of it but it’s taking its toll on him and me he often has to miss out on school activities and the teachers always want me present on school trips so I can be on hand. I did explain the amount of time I have to hold his nose and how he strayed being sick afterwards because he swallows the blood and I Evan have to watch over him sleeping because he ain’t aware that it’s bleeding not to mention the clean up afterwards

Oh that sounds awful. You've actually just triggered a memory of a boy in my primary school who used to get nosebleeds a lot. I don't think it was to the same extent as your son but he did indeed grow out of it by the time we went to secondary school. I know that's little consolation, but hopefully it's the same for you.

oh wow really and did you ever find out the cause of them as we have never got to the bottom of it and it’s so awful watching your kid go through it he is so brave though because he will see the worry in my face and he starts to comfort me all the while he’s bleeding it breaks my heart so glad to hear your boy don’t get them anymore 🫶

Oh sorry it wasn't my son, it was a boy I went to school with so I'm not sure what he was diagnosed with, if anything. That's so sweet of him to comfort you, what a wonderful boy.

oh sorry I misread 🤦🏻♀️ I have Evan sent pictures of him sleeping and it’s bleeding and lots of other photos had to take these to send as proof for school absences hopefully they will re consider their decision fingers crossed

Brilliant news @faifai2915 hopefully you'll get a letter over the next few weeks to confirm things, but sounds like you're all sorted ☺️

Good news, that sounds like the back pay which usually arrives before your decision letter.
1 -
so does this definitely mean I have been awarded as still no letter yet

It looks like you've been awarded @faifai2915 if you've had a backpayment, which is great news! The letter might be delayed due to Christmas but hopefully it'll arrive soon.
