Assessment period
Sorry to sound stupid, But as I will be getting my new style esa and uc beginning of December. Which for me is every 2 weeks with uc as well. Do you have to let uc know how much you have in your account each month if its below £6000. After you get the benefit, Also say someone gives you money as a gift say Christmas and birthday do you have to declare that. It's just as its my birthday next month

You don't need to report capital under £6000, nor one off gifts of money, unless those gifts take your capital over £6000 on the last day of your Assessment Period.

Can you explain the assessment period please, does this happen every month or is it for the first month until you get your first money with uc

There is an Assessment Period each month so that if for instance your UC claim started on 8th November your first Assessment Period will run from 8th November to 7th December, the next Assessment Period would 8th December to 7th January and so on.
