Hi can anyone help wth bit of advice as im really demented here. Been on ESA income based support group for yrs. Wth full dissability premium.. Got migration letter to migrate to Universal crd. Started claim was told itd take 5 wks to migrate and wld get last 2 Payments of ESA Then 3 wks wthout any Money and responceable for my own rent and council tax in that 3 wk period. Got letter off DWP saying Income related benefit stopped due to claim of universal credit. Ive signed journal commitments for Universal cred and theyve sd will be paid end of November. Then i receive letter off ESA saying theyve put me on Contribution new style ESA £140.55 weekly. I dont understand why this is as ive Never been on contribution based ESA, Even letter that states benefit stopping due to universal claim says Income based ESA. I was in support group due to health issues and have been for yrs. Ive spoke to U/ crd who sd to phn ESA. Done that 3 times and got 3 diff answers? Now ive received letter off ESA saying ive got to go job centre to explain wht and why dissability stops me from working and sign a comitments agreement with them now aswell. Im Disabled on pip full mobility enhancement. I thought whole idea of migration was to go straight over to universal cred with my transition protection and benefit would remain the same. So why has this happened. My nerves are shattered and constantly on phn to them but still no further. Can any one help please, thanks in advance.

This is a really common situation and nothing to worry about.
Many people are mistaken about their ESA award, only finding out what it was after migration.
It's possible to have been on both Income Related and Contributions Based ESA.
UC replaces IR and the CB converts automatically into New Style ESA.
