Warm home discount
I've just had a message off Octopus saying I've received the warm home discount. I didn't think I'd get it this year as neither my husband or I are on means tested benefits at the moment. I queried this with Octopus and they said I'd have to ask the DWP but I can't find any contact number for this.
We have two adult children living at home on means tested benefits so I don't know if this is why we qualified but I though the claimant had to be named on the bill.
I'm very confused and don't want to have to pay money back at a later date if it is a mistake.

I had the same message from Octopus on Wednesday and my letter about it from the government arrived today so your letter explaining it is probably in the post somewhere. I’d hang on and wait for that as it should explain things

I received an email from my electricity/gas supplier saying I was entitled to the £150.00 Warm Home Discount. I replied saying that the wife and I were no longer receiving the qualifying benefits as of a few weeks ago and that we were probably not entitled to the £150.00. As a state pensioner receiving £921.00 monthly I am unsure if this fulfils the criteria to receive the discount. I think it is necessary to be in receipt of legacy benefits which we no longer receive or universal credit which we will not be receiving.

It is your circumstances on 24th August that counts for this payment.
If your household was getting IR ESA on that date then it's correct that you get the payment.

That's why I'm confused. I thought the person receiving ir esa had to ne named on the bill. It's one of our kids that was receiving it. 🤔
