Crikey! It's Steve Irwin Day!
Steve Irwin, affectionately known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was an iconic conservationist, zookeeper, and television personality who dedicated his life to wildlife preservation and education. His enthusiasm and passion for animals captivated audiences worldwide, drawing attention to the importance of conservation efforts.
Born in 1962 in Essendon, Australia, Steve Irwin's journey with wildlife began as a child. He grew up in a family involved in wildlife advocacy, and developed a deep appreciation and respect for nature. This passion eventually led him to co-found the Australia Zoo with his wife, Terri. The zoo became known for its conservation and participation in wildlife protection initiatives.
Steve Irwin's television series, "The Crocodile Hunter," was pivotal in changing the public's perception of often misunderstood animals like crocodiles, snakes, and other reptiles. Through his daring encounters and educational content, Irwin taught viewers about the significance of these creatures within their ecosystems and the human impact on their habitats.
His commitment to conservation sparked numerous projects aimed at protecting endangered species and fragile environments.
Sadly, Steve Irwin passed away on 4 September 2006, but his family, particularly his children Bindi and Robert Irwin, continue to champion wildlife conservation efforts and inspire new generations to appreciate and protect the natural world.
As the Crocodile Hunter famously said, "I believe that education is all about being excited about something… Passion and enthusiasm help to reach the hearts of people."

I loved Steve Irwin! I was devastated when I heard he died, he's still one of the celebrities I've been most sad to lose.
His family are great too, it's lovely that they're still doing so much of his good work ☺️
